WHAT IS THE FREE WHITE NORTH?
Welcome to The Free White North! We created this site as a resource for the advancement and growth of hunting, fishing, sport shooting and survivalism here in Canada (lovingly reffered to as the Great White North).
We strive to provide resources and a means to educate people on what it takes to be a responsible firearms licenseholder and owner in Canada, to how to be a successful hunter or sport shooter, especially when you’ve never been exposed to this in childhood.
WHY DID WE START THIS SITE?
Well, the answer is quite simple really. I grew up fishing, both fresh and saltwater in different parts of the world. However, I was never exposed to firearms, shooting or hunting as a kid growing up in the sprawling metropolis of Calgary, here in beatiful Alberta.
It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I ever shot a firearm of any kind. Fast forward about a decade and my wife and I decided to get our firearms licenses for the purpose of being able to get firearms passed down to us eventually from her side of the family. From there our love for shooting grew from the very first firearm we bought, and has taken us to a sport and hobby that we love and can do together. In recent years we’ve taken up small and big game hunting as well, and we’re constantly learning about gear, techniques, strategies and best practices.
The purpose of this site is to pass on this information that we’ve learned as beginners and to provide a central resource for someone who is interested in getting into either sport shooting, hunting, or any variation thereof.
